Danny Baker's back on Saturday morning national radio, and it's fab. It's 1994 again, but in a good way. Zoe Ball's not disgracing the set up, either. He's currently reeling in the Radio 2 massive with all the greatest hits. A mate's sent me a message to ask how long before he's calling the register, and I reckon we'll be on 'How nuts is your mum?' before too long. He's not played this yet, but give it time.

Isn't Danny Kelly contractually obliged elsewhere? That might prevent the return of 'we fear change', but yes, if ever the world needed the University of Turmoil, it's now.
Temporary attachment, covering the absence of Jonathan Ross up to Christmas. However, I suspect that if all goes well, a permanent berth will be found. In the runup to the show, I was sceptical about Zoe Ball, but she was a great sidekick from the off - knowing when to keep quiet, but chipping in with some great stuff when she felt it met the standard.
Wasn't Baker offered this slot ahead of Ross a decade ago, but turned it down because he didn't think it was ready?
It was radio gold - I always forget how much I enjoy Danny Baker until I hear him again.
People moan about getting listeners to call in, but he makes it work without it sounding cheesy. The 'greatest word in pop music' was a genius topic.
It's wonderful to have him back on Saturdays. I love the BBC London show, but this just feels so right. Zoe Ball earned her keep very early on with the 'my brother broke a stoat' story.
